This privacy policy explains what data MadeiraIslands.org collects, why it is collected, and how it is handled.

Analytics Tools

This website uses two analytics services to understand how visitors use the site:

Cloudflare Web Analytics — a privacy-friendly analytics service provided by Cloudflare. It collects anonymised usage data including page views, referrers, countries, devices, browsers, and operating systems. It does not use cookies and does not personally identify visitors.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — a web analytics service provided by Google. GA4 uses cookies to collect information such as how often users visit the site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to coming to the site. GA4 is configured to anonymise IP addresses. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

What Data Is Collected

The analytics tools collect the following types of data:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • How you arrived at the site (search engine, social media, direct visit, or referral from another website)
  • Your general geographic location (country level)
  • Device type (mobile, desktop, tablet)
  • Browser and operating system
  • Interactions with outbound links

No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

Cookies

Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies. Google Analytics 4 may set cookies on your device. These cookies are used to distinguish unique users and limit the rate of requests.

Data Retention

Cloudflare Web Analytics data is retained according to Cloudflare's default retention policies. Google Analytics 4 data is retained for 14 months by default. You can manage your data retention settings in your Google Account.

Your Choices

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can also disable JavaScript in your browser to prevent analytics from running.

This site contains links to external websites, including the official Madeira tourism website. These websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.
